My Ford dealer was able to find the code for my 2000 Expedition by using my VIN number. It seems that the same would apply to your situation.
there is a "wallet card" which has the code on it, if you do not have this card you will need to bring the car into a Mercury dealer and they will "plug it in" and retrieve the factory preset code.
the keyless entry code is inside the cover in the back where the rear windshield washer container is
I have a 1998 and the code is in the back where your jack and accessories are.
The code is on a sticker on the top of the control module.
No,a transmission on a 2005 mercury mountaineer will not fit on a 2000 mercury mountaineer unless you change the oil message on the mountaineer.
On a 2007 Mercury Mountaineer : Open the drivers door and on the end of the door ( or the latch pillar ) you will see an information sticker that shows the original size tires on the vehicle from the factory
Each vehicle with keyless entry has its own factory code
My code was located in the compartment with my jack. It is on the side of the white computer box. Hope this helps.
