In many states the VIN and serial number are the same. You should be able to find the information on the title for the mobile home. If you are having difficulty locating it, your state Department of Motor Vehicles should be able to help.
There is no VIN on a Mobile Home.

If you are in US, take the number of the mobile to the State DMV. If they don't know, they will at least be able to advise you further.
I believe you will have to contact your local DMV office. In most(all?) states mobile homes are titled with the DMV as vehicles. Either you, or the current owner, will probably have to inquire about applying for a "lost title." Be sure that you, or they, go equipped with the serial number of the mobile home and all the documentation you/they can locate.
