  • It depends on how the sentence is set up. All you have to do is try to figure out who or what the verb in the sentence is acting on.

    (ex: Carlos loves Celena. Even though 'Carlos' is doing the act of 'loving', it is being acted on 'Celena', so she is the topic.)
