A WorkGroup and a Domain are not the same things. Assuming you want to join an existing Windows based WorkGroup/Domain select Network from the Finder/Desktop Go menu. This will open a Finder window which will show, after a minute or two, available networks to join. If this does not help try Connect To Server from the Finder/Desktop GO menu and entering...
smb://DOMAIN;User@ServerName/ShareName
...as the Server Address.

Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and higher will only work on Macs with an Intel processor not on earlier Power PC Macs. Some install discs supplied with a particular line of Macs will not work on other Macs. So to answer the question... No.
