Cable most commonly used is a flat4 style, although any standard data cable can be used. Tools needed, MODULAR CRIMPING TOOL with RJ9 crimp port ( also known as a 4P?C plug) Common flat4 conductor colour and pin-out is. (pin 1 being the left-most as you look at the front of the connector with the locking clip upmost). 1- Black. 2- Red. 3- Green. 4-Yellow. Select RJ9 crimp connector to suit wire type (either solid or multi strand) this will ensure the best termination of the conductors. Carefully strip the outer insulation with either a sharp blade or the strippers as part of the modular crimper. Insert the RJ9 connector into the Modular crimping tool, followed by the cable, ( with inner insultation intact). Tighten the crimping tool, remove RJ9 connnector and inspect that the outer insulator in anchored by the rear cable crimp.
