How do you open a vintage vw bug glovebox that is stuck?
open the hood and take the screw out that holds the strap which wraps around the glove box. Remove the glove box and set aside in the hood area being careful not to break the plastic hood cable tube. You will be able to see where the glove box latch spring tab is keeping the door shut. Squeeze the latch and push to open the door. Replace the lock assembly by removing the large nut on back of the glove box door and reinstall new one. align the door properly with the 4 phillips screws on the door and trial fit. Once it works properly reinstall the glove box and strap.

take out the glove box lock or door lock as there more easy to build a key round compared to the ignition barrel and also quicker to remove/refit take to a lock smiths and they will build a key to fit, if you have an immobilizer its a dealer job if you cant get a decent locksmiths to make a key get a lock set from the scrappys, (might be a cheaper option than a key build)
