the top and bottom nearest the driver/passenger are on positive screws - have a black cap on sometimes. They can just be screwed off. The opener comes off with two smaller positive screws, then you need to push the bar out - followed by pop out a little piece of plastic which is on the inside on the plastic (looks like a elongated n shape), then slide down the plastic ring, this allows for the plastic to come out on the other side of the glass. Reverse this to fit the glass, which just presses against the rubber.
That would be EXTREMELY unlikely that any rear window regulator would fit in the front window, same side or not.

I think you are talking about the brackets that hold the rear window down and secure to the body on a soft top model. The only problem I know of is that many people do not realize that it takes a little twist of the steel bar that is in the bottom of the rear window section to get it to settle into the grooves in the brackets. It is wider on one side, and will not fit into the groove that way.
