broken thermostat; blocked hose to radiator or hole in hose; leak in radiator; etc..
yes
Out of gas? Do you need to hot wire it?
the only ones i know of had problems, namely the wiring harness can become shorted out. This is a bad vehicle. If you want an SUV, go with the explorer. I bought my durango used, but fairly new. It's running hot and I've had mechanic after mechanic, including dodge dealership look it over, and no one can find the problem. You'll replace window motors every year, and when sensors go bad, you won't get a code. I have a 1998 Durango and its great, there have been few problems, but i love it Yes, Durangos are great vehicles if properly maintained.
For the air. It could be that your system may need to be charged or you may have a leak, or your a.c. pump may be bad.
yes
If it shows hot on the gauge and it is not hot, there is a gauge or sensor problem.
You probably could A) replace the gauge or B) take it to a dealership and have them look at it
If the gauge is reading hot and the car is running normal temperatures, the water temperature sensor needs replaced.
I have a 2001 Dodge 3500 that was not getting up to operating temperature. I changed the thermostat and that fixed it. I guess the thermostat was stuck open.
No. It will keep running until the engine is ruined.
I'm guessing it starts boiling over when you shut it off. it is normal for temperatures to rise when the water stops flowing through the engine, but sound like car is running too hot to begin with. i would check the coolant level when the engine is cold, if that's okay change your thermostat. if it's still running hot and boiling over your radiator is probably clogged and needs replacing. not too familiar with these but if it has electric and not a motor driven cooling fan check that it is operating. good luck
Your heater core is plugged up....check the two smaller water hoses that come off your water pump. if one is hot to the touch, and one is noticably cooler to the touch, then theres your problem....and it is an absolute bear to change. Go to Google Search and type Back flush heater core 2000 dodge durango. Follow the directions you will find there. It's not that difficult to do.
