Restart and hold down the Shift key as your Mac starts up. This will automatically check some files and stop some files from loading.

Open Disk Utility. Select the start up drive. Click 'Repair Permissions.' and let it finish.

Restart. If the problem still is there, insert the 'Install Disk 1.' Restart while holding the C key down. It will take longer.

The disk utility is in a folder on the cd. Find it and run it. Select the start up drive. Click 'Repair Disk.' Wait. Restart.
