There is no known, reliable cure for a fish with a swim bladder problem. You can spend a fortune buying chemicals and medications from a pet shop that "claim" to fix everything including swim bladder problems. In my 60 years of experience I have never ever found one that works and I believe you would be wasting your money. I would euthanise the fish and then make sure that I looked after my fishes water conditions better in future. Bad water conditions are what cause the problem in the first place. The basic rules of sucessfull fishkeeping are. :- 1 inch of fish needs at least 1 gallon of water, :- Every tank should have a permanently running cycled filter. :- Every tank needs to have at least 50% of its water replaced every week. Follow the rules and you can be sucessfull. Fail in any of them and I can guarantee you regular failure until you do follow the rules.
I have the same problem, i think you can get a special treatment from your petstore. I'll tell you if i find an answer.
Thanks,
Nancy xFirst of all don't feed your fish for 24 hours. After that you will find that it is not floating on the surface anymore. Next you should feed your fish sinking/live food such as brine shrimp or bloodworm etc. After this the fish will begin to recover.
You will find this problem a lot with fat goldfish, so you didn't do anything wrong. They were bred for beauty, not to be successful. If you would like to avoid these problems get thinner breeds of goldfish.
Feed them mashed peas, or if really serious, stick a needle into its swim bladder to air it out.
a fish
If your goldfish is struggling to go down to the bottom of the tank it has a swim bladder problem. There are those who advise a slow raising (up to 80F) and then lowering (down to 55F) of the temperature of the water over about two days for this problem. There are also commercially available "cure alls" that pet shops will happily recommend and sell you. In over 50 years of fish keeping I have yet to see either the temperature manipulation or any of the expensive medications work and fix a swim bladder problem. In my experience the fish will eventually die so I would euthanase it.
I believe there are some meds available that "CLAIM" to treat swim bladder problems. From my experience, I have found those claims to be false and I know of no one who has found any reliable cure for swim bladder problems. Gentle raising and lowering of the water temp has also been reputed to work in some instances.
If it seems that the fish is attempting to swim upwards your fish has a swim bladder problem. Your fish will die from this eventually. Pet stores may well attempt to sell you something to fix this. IMO you would be wasting your money. I would destroy/euthanase the fish.
Its when your uterus falls on to your bladder and then you get a kink in your bladder and when they fix it ( tack it up). the kink doesnt come out of your bladder so you dont empty your bladder all the way.
A senior does not need a specific type of mattress pad other that waterproof. Any waterproof mattress pad will help and fix bladder control problems.
No, but drinking a LOT of water and cranberry juice may fix it.
Yes - because when you swim you use the muscles in your back (believe it or not) and they push your spine to the right place. {please note - IT'S NOT AN OVERNIGHT 'FIX'}
You can't fix a ripped silicone swim cap. Just throw it away and buy another one.
Ask an expert. It could be a sign that your gold-fish is sick. Never go on wiki-answers for a medical problem. Its not a good idea.
This glitch happens a lot with smart moving mod, I even had it. I redownloaded the mod, and it worked again.
Help desk software can help diagnosis and fix your problems. Help desk offers a search and a troubleshooter to find and help fix the problems you are having.
You can put it in there but why should you? Are your goldfish sick? Are they in need of medication? I am of the opinion that the less chemicals added to a fishes water the better the water is bound to be. Why add chemical solutions and try to fix something that is not broken?
