How do you fix a fuel gauge problem on a 1994 Dodge Caravan SE where is shows as full when tank is filled but goes to empty within a few miles?

I would start by suspecting that the vehicle has a bad fuel level sender the only ggod way to tell is to plug the scan tool from the dealer on to the vehicle. They have test were they can Sweep the gages if it works there then the fuel level sender is most likely bad or wiring, but most likely the level sender.
