It probably is not the key. It could be the battery or starter.
Try lubricating it with powered graphite. If that does not work then the ignition tumbler assembly may need replacing. They do wear out over time. Of course you may be using the wrong key.

AnswerIf the key will rotate in the door locks, but not in the ignition switch then the key is not going in all the way due to debris in there, the steering wheel lock is binding the ignition lock (fix by rocking wheel back and forth while turning key) or mechanical failure of lock internals.

If you can not unlock the steering wheel after turning the key in the ignition, or are having trouble starting the car i.e. not being able to turn the key. The issue maybe your ignition cylinder. I had this issue my self, 03 zx3 . They easiest fix would be to goto your local ford dealer and have a new ignition cylinder put in and while your at it have a spare key made. They're plenty of after market parts or Diy but after doing so you will need a key for the ignition and a separate key for the doors. Dealers can program your new key to work with every thing.
