depends on what is wrong. Doesn't turn, doesn't pull in solenoid, pulls in but wont turn over engine, spins but wont engage in the engine and turn it over? These are but a few.
They make a kit to replace some parts. I have used them on many occasions and done just fine. If the brushes are worn you can replace them OK. If the internal surface the brushes ride on are worn I suggest you replace the starter. No since stopping on a date and not being able to start the car.
First remove it and see if you can find the problem. Decide if you can repair it with the kit and then go from there.
I found out that the cables on the speed sensor become loose or toast, so just check them out. is on the driver side on the transmission. is easy to fix.
No need to fix the starter, just goto NAPA or Autozone and get a remanufactured one.
If you do it yourself, probably about $100 less than if you take it to Toyota. But if you have an authorized Toyota service do it, they will put on another Toyota starter which should last as long as this one did.
yes you can drop the trans and get to it
Its not the starter, its either the iginition switch (where your key goes into) or something wrong with the computer. JohnnyB
You just have to replace the starter as it's no good..the safety retraction switch is either burnt out or faulty
The cost to fix a broken starter depends on the type of starter and where a person goes to fix it. It can range from $50 to $200 to fix a broken starter.
You do not have many choices either replace it or if the leak is not sufficient buy one of those leak fix bottles.
I replaced the starter but it makes a grinding nose how do i fix it
Hello, I have a 96 Toyota Tercel that has a starter that is not working. I am having a difficult time finding any answers about the top bolt which holds the starter on the engine. I got every bolt off except for that mysterious top bolt. I have never seen anything quite this difficult before. I will try to answer when I find the solution.
replace the srs module.
I would unhook the BATTERY and then Check the starter wires, Clean and tighten the wires on the starter and make sure there not touching anything that would make them short out / spark. That should fix your problem.
