Gonna have to pull the head and find out what's wrong. Could be a bent valve.
The crankshaft position sensor on a Chevy Celebrity 2.8V6 is located about the middle of the block beneath the exhaust manifold on the side of the engine nearest the firewall. It is held in by a single bolt through a lug on the side of the sensor. It has an "O" ring for an oil seal, it gets quite stuck in place and can be a bit of a nuisance to remove.
not block?? Two thoughts, stuck thermostat maybe, loose connection on cooling fan and droping the hood jars it.
how can i get black exhaust smoke stuck on my dual exhaust
how to remove key stuck in ignition switch in Chevy colbalt
Let's see, out of time, burned valve, stuck valve, valves adjusted too tight, stretched timing chain, flat cam, crossed plug wires. What is happening is this, the plug is firing the mixture in the cylinder, a valve is not sealing the explosion. Or, the spark plug is firing at the wrong time, thus igniting the "charge" in the exhaust, or intake manifold. In other words, the valve, and ignition timing, (spark) are out of sync.
If the exhaust system was very leaky, the exhaust gasses would just leak out. If the system was well sealed, it might blow up the muffler or other component, or blow out a gasket. It might also just blow out whatever you stuck in the exhaust pipe.
Probably a bad camshaft.
Drain the coolant, remove the distributor, disconnect all plumbing, remove carb, unbolt the manifold. They are usually stuck pretty tight, so you will probably have to get a screwdriver in there to pry it off the heads. Be careful not to damage the gasket mating surface.
The most common cause of that is that there is an old O-RING stuck to the engine block where the oil filter goes. Take the filter off and make sure there is no gasket / O-ring stuck to the block. If you don't find your problem there, Then let us know and we'll try to help you.
It is just stuck,
I'm stuck there too i don't know what to do!
The fuel gauge on a Chevy may become stuck if the sending unit is defective or become disconnected. Without a signal from the tank, the gauge will not move.
