You can scan the iPod's hard disk with a program called Doctor to see if there are corrupted files which causes the iPod to freeze or not to sync. If there are any errors, you can repair them with the same tool (See link section)
---------------------
Syncing depends on several things. This is for Mac:
1. The iPod battery needs to be charged. Let it charge for a while if it ran down.
2. Both iTunes and the iPod need to be running the latest software. Update both, especially if you have reset the iPod, which defaults to the on-board software.
3. The computer has to have the correct permissions to write to the iPod. Fix permissions with Disk Utility.
4. The connection has to be available. USB links sometimes get confused. Change the port used to connect to the iPod, or restart the computer with the iPod unplugged, then plug it in.
5. The file system of the iPod has to be readable. If it got messed up, reset the iPod by holding the MENU spot and the CENTER spot at the same time until the Apple Logo appears. You will also have to re-install updated software using iTunes if you do this. This will erase all the files on the iPod and clear up the system.
Try plugging it in to your computer to restore of if this isn't possible then take it to your nearest Apple store and ask them to help you further with this problem :)
