How do you fix door ajar light that comes on when doors are closed?

The most likely cause is a sticking or faulty door switch. In much older cars, there is a spring loaded switch that the door makes contact with when it closes and shuts the light off. If you have a much older car, the switch may be worn out. In most cars from 1990's on, the switch is built into the door latch (this is the latch that grabs onto the metal ring that is bolted to your cars door opening. If so, it may just be sticking. Use some electronic cleaner to clean the switch and then use a lubricant to lubricate it. Note: Don't use WD-40. WD-40 is meant to be a penetrant. It will quickly get sticky and your switch will stick again. check and see of the switch in the hinge of the any of the doors have been dislodged or the wires connected to them disconnected or broken some doors have small brass buttons that have to connect there is a screw type adjustment on them as they must make contact for the light to go out if this does not work the spring inside has collapsed and the whole button must be replaced
