Fake antivirus alerts are caused by rogue programs, that should be removed. First, you need to know the name of the program that is causing it. A common one is Vista AntiVirus. It gives you false warnings, and tries to get you to buy their software to remove it. Once you know the name of which one you have, you can do a Google search. There will be step by step instructions at many sites to tell you how to remove the one you have. Don't buy anything to remove it, the instructions are free at most sites. If you are not comfortable messing with some things on your computer, you may want to take it to CompUSA, Staples, or another reputable computer repair center.
