Plug it in the computer and hitting F8 key every few seconds as the computer reboots. Click safe mode, then hopefully your computer working fine. Find the my computer (Windows XP) Computer (Windows 7) right click an then click manage. Then go to device manager. Expand Display adapter. then right click the name of the Display Adapter and Uninstall and Fix the Resolution and reboot it.
if it install goto the manage and device manager and Expand the display adapter and Disable the file under it
Shut down your computer irregulary so when you start it up again it asks you:
Start in Safe Mode?
Start in Safe Mode with Network Prompt?
Start in Safe Mode....
Start normally?
1) Click any start in safe mode option and your monitor should show everything as you log in but your graphics are crappy
2) Go to start --> in the program search bar type "msconfig" and hit enter
3) in the msconfig window go to the upper "Boot" tab and check off the "Base Video" option
4) Hit apply and restart your computer when prompted.
5) Now you're in and your montitor is displaying but the graphics still suck.
6) Go to your display options and apply new resolution and refresh settings...

HP has been making monitors for decades. They come in a range of formats and connection options. From the limited information available it will be impossible to state what the problem is. Checking that the computer and monitor are both working; that connections between the computer and monitor are correctly configured and that the output of the computer is set to something that the monitor can handle may help fix the problem.

Try turning the MONITOR off and then on again. If it doesn't work, change your computer color settings.
