The spring that assists the window to the up position is very strong and do not attempt to remove the old motor with the window in the down position. Your fingers wil thank you. -Inspect the power window switches for broken or loose wires. -Check the power window fuse or circuit breaker. -Remove door panels and check power window motor wires to see if they are loose or damaged. Inspect the glass mechanism for damage which can cause binding. -If it's only one window not working and all the above checks out ok then you may have to replace the window motor.
In California, all windows can be covered except the Front Windshield, Drivers Window, & Front Passenger Window, and you have the proper left and right side view mirrors.

Your power windows on the 02 Explorer are all on the same fuse to the best of my knowledge. You should check the plug into the main window button console in your drivers door. The little piece of plastic around the door handle pops out when pushed towards the front of the vehicle. This gives you access to the buttons and harnesses. Hope that helps.

I had a similar problem with a Toyota Corolla. Could be worth a shot There may be a window lock button (usually near the drivers electric window controls). That causes the controls from all, except the driver's, to be unresponsive.

Depends on the location of the window and the laws in your location. Usually the front drivers and passenger window must remain, but the back windows could be closed up with sheet metal, fiberglass, Plexiglas, or any number of suitable materials.
Run another dedicated hot wire to the drivers window switch. This will provide power to that window no matter if the driver cuts the power or not.
