Mine is shot too. Every mechanic I've spoken to says the sensor is in the fuel pump assembly, and the whole assembly would need to be replaced for around $700 after labor. To do it yourself, I imagine you'll need a lift to drop the tank out...
I've been using the trip odometer for five years now; refuel at 300 miles.
tl;dr: not worth fixing.
what is it not doing
the fuel guage in my 1993 Saturn goes wiggling back and forth. how do i fix this problem?
replace the printed circuit board behind the tach gauge. $15.00
Your gauge could be bad but more than likely it is the temperature sending unit. It is a fairly inexpensive thing to fix.
Usually the fuel level sensor in the fuel pump. ANSWER A 1993 Ford Explorer also has a 15 amp fuse in location # 17 for the fuel gauge
You have to remove the gas tank, the pump assambly from the tank, and replace the float sensor.
it could be the coil pack it could be the coil pack
slap the dashslap the dash. Seriously that's how I just fixed the one on my 87 4X4 a few minutes ago.
check the connections behind the gauge they could pop loose
You'll have to take the door trim off and inspect the mechanism. You've probably got a failed cable or linkage.
1 The sending unit for the fuel gauge is broken. 1 Fix, drop the the tank. Or remove the bed. On the top of the tank is 2 circle shaped caps. One has metal hoses and wires (fuel pump) and the other smaller of the 2 has just wires fuel gauge sending unit. The gas gauge sending unit is a dealer part. Some used parts shops have them but you run the risk of having to fix the issue again. 2 The gauge it's self is bad. 2 Fix, Go to walmart. Buy a cheap gas gauge. Remove the gauge cluster from the truck and run jumpers wires from the old fuel gauge to the new. Turn the key on and enjoy. Or buy a used gauge cluster and plug and play.
temp gauge is stuck on hot
