go to the auto store and buy some prestone flush. instructions are on the back. basically you drain your radiator, pour in the flush, refill the system with water, run the engine with the heater on high for about 15 minutes, then drain the system again, refill it with 50/50 coolant.
A coolant flush on a 96 Z34 Chevy Monte Carlo helps greatly with increasing the efficiency of the cooling system. It removes buildup and contaminants from the system.
Do it yourself engine transmission flush and filter change on 2005 Chevy silverado 5.3?"
Clean the reservoir and flush the cooling system.
Depends on where you go.
you probably need to flush the coolant system. GM claims that the coolant is good for a ridiculous number of miles, but it is not so. The coolant breaks down and forms large clumps which will clog up the heater core. You may need to flush several times to get it all out.
Remove radiator cap (when cold), open petcock valve at bottom of radiator (usually at the driver side bottom), drain. you'll wanna flush the system with some sort of over the counter flushing agent before you refill it. instructions are on the bottle.
You don't have to but it is a good opportunity to flush the system.
Ive never heard of draining coolant plugs except on a diesel engine . Once you drain the coolant and flush the system it should be fine
You can purchase a coolant flush kit from your local auto parts store for less than $10. It comes with directions.
If you must do it yourself ensure that you drain and capture all the old coolant. There is not a drain cock on the system. You must use the rad hose disconnect. The dex coolant does not like air. It is well worth your while to get a shop with an evacuation flush unit to replace the coolant. This method pushes out the old coolant with the fresh stuff. Effective and mixed to the proper proportion to maximize the long life of the Dexcool.
Remove the bottom hose from your 1995 Chevy Corvette radiator. Allow the coolant to drain out. Put a hose into the top of the radiator. Run water through the radiator until it runs clear.
DO NOT FLUSH the coolant system on a northstar. Drain the coolant, replace with 50/50 Dexcool and fresh clean water, and you're good to go. Especially NEVER NEVER buy a "Coolant Flush" at a dealer or quicky-lube place. All you'll get is the previous sucker's engine gunk pumped in to your engine.
