The Nintendo DS can only use WEP encryption. The DSi and 3DS can connect to WPA for internet and other internal functions, but only 3DS games and special 'DSi-enhanced' ones can be played over WPA, they are unable to play regular DS games over it.
The only real solution is to change your router to WEP.
WiFiConnection
You can't, the DS lite cannot use WPA encryption. It can only use WEP.
Unfortunately no, the wi-fi chip inside the Nintendo DS does support pinging WPA networks with the right software but DS games are built to only connect to WEP wi-fi connections. So sorry, but if you wanted to play on a WPA network, its not possible.
It only supports WPA 2 not WEP or others
Nintendo DS games are only capable of supporting WEP security protocols. It cannot connect to a wireless network using WPA or WPA2.
Error code 51099 is received when WPA is not compatible with Nintendo DS game card. It disables the online connection and the use of online features of the Nintendo DSi.
As is stated in the manual, the 'advanced' connections that the XL uses to connect to WPA wifi, can only be used with the XL's browser and Nintendo store functions. It cannot use the WPA connection when playing a game.
The wi-fi supports WEP and WPA encryption but any DS game that is not 'dsi-enhanced' can only go online on a WEP connection even though the 3DS can connect using WPA.
no the Nintendo ds lite dose not work with WPA, Howeverthe new Nintendo dsi dose work with WPA and WPA2 but don't go out buying a Nintendo dsi, its no worth it only if you want to use wifi OS you can down grade your router to wep it may be low secuirty but its the only way. Hope I can help:)
other things are that my router is Netgear, the internet is from comcast, and it is wireless internet. The reason i am asking this is because i want to be able to play Nintendo ds games online. Problem is that WEP is weaker than WPA in terms of security. You might want to look at the Nintendo closer. Perhaps it can be upgraded.
I think you can't use a router with a WPA connection with the Nintendo DS. I tried it with our router, but finally gave up and configured the router to WEP instead. The regular DS and DS lite cannot decrypt WPA security, but the DSi can. You could get a Nintendo USB wi-fi adapter which plugs into the PC and turns it into another access point, the DS can connect to this. It doesn't matter that your router is using WPA, because only your PC is connecting to that, the DS is now connecting to a signal broadcast by the PC itself. But please note when using WPA on the DSi that only newer games will work with it. Old DS games will not work which is a shame.
Yes, it is, but only for its browser and things like the DSi Store. It cannot play a game over a WPA connection - this is something that was hard coded into the games themselves when the cartridges were designed, to only use WEP encryption.
