Try getting out of your child what is bothering them. Up until seven to eight years old children can be frightened by the 'boogeyman' to a shadow in the corner of the room. By six years of age they should be able to tell you what they are afraid of. There is nothing wrong with them having a nightlight or leaving a 40 watt light on next to their bed and leave their bedroom door open. It helps them get through the night. Also a radio is a good source to help them sleep and YOU select a good station that has soft music that will help them sleep. If this fails then I suggest you see your family doctor. There could be something physical going on with your child (not trying to scare you) such as thyroid, etc. Sometimes during growing spurts hormones can cause weird and not so wonderful things. STOP getting up every 5 minutes with your 6 year old. Put that dim light on with soft music off the radio and leave their bedroom door open.
A dream lite is when a child is scared, when you turn it on, you will see the stars and things like that. When the child is fast asleep, the dream lite turns off after 20 minutes.
You are scared because if you enter water and you can not swim, you could drown. Real people can not become mermaids, that is just for stories.

It would depend on why you are getting scared. Without knowing more about the context of when and why you are getting scared, I can't give you any more information on how normal it is. If you want a more in depth answer, please try to give more details and ask again.
A startle is better than getting scared, since getting scared is a massive startle, but a startle is just a miniscule scare.
Because it dreams nightmares.
If your scared you can just do it and forget that your naked.
