The only way to get a Thick Club is to catch a wild Cubone. Each Cubone has a 5% chance of holding the Club, so you need extra patience. To increase the chances of it having the item, have a Pokemon with the ability Compound Eyes in the first slot of your Party.
Cubone are found on Route 203 at Lv4. They only appear during a Swarm, so you might have to try for several days, checking up on your rival's sibling in Sandgem Town everyday, and eventually, that person will tell you if Cubone are available to catch on Route 203. Once it does appear, you need to head over there before the day ends to get Thick Club. Bring a Pokemon that knows Thief, so you can try to steal the item instead of having to catch the Cubone, which will likely not have the item anyway, which would waste your Pokeballs.
Pokémon that have CompoundEyes and can learn TM Thief:
- Butterfree
- Venonat
- Yanma
If you've already use your TM Thief, there are 2 Pokémon that level up to learn Thief:
- Mightyena Lv57
- Kecleon Lv1 (or Move Tutor if not Lv1)
