Can h and r block give you a copy of your previous tax return?

If your return was done in an H&R Block office, they will have a copy stored on the server and can print it up for you for at least the last 3 years. If you did the return online, you can access your online account and print it out again. You should have been given a copy of your tax return at time of preparation. Unfortunately, many people lose it or even throw it away assuming they can go get another copy any time. The original documents are with that copy and are irreplaceable. H&R Block does not store copies of the W-2 and other documents for clients.

Does a California tax return need a copy of the Federal return?

If you are filing Form 5402EZ or Form 540A, do not attach a copy of your federal return to your California return. If you are filing Form 540 you must attach a copy of your federal return to your California return only if you filed any schedules other than schedule A or schedule B with your federal return. If you are filing form 540NR, you must always attach a complete copy of your federal return to your California return.

How can you get a copy of your statement from the IRS dated back ten years?

Form 4506 is Request for Copy of Tax Return. File Form 4506 to request an exact copy of a previous year's return (including all attachments, W-2s, etc.). The IRS charges a $57.00 fee for this service. It takes about two months to process. Exact copies generally are available for the current plus the past six years. But the IRS generally keeps your tax records for at least 10 years. To verify that your return from 10 years ago is still available, call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040. Do you send a copy of your federal tax return with your state tax return?

It depends on the state (we don't know what state you are in) and the complexity of your return. Some states require a copy of your federal return. Some states require a copy only if you have certain types of income or file certain forms. Some states do not require a copy at all. Check the instruction booklet that came with your state tax forms. It should tell you what you need to send. If you are filing your state return electronically you do not need to mail in a copy of your federal return. If you are mailing in your state return then yes a copy of your federal return must be attached.

Do you enclose a copy of your state tax return with your federal return?

No. The Internal Revenue Service does not require a copy of your state tax return to be sent with your federal return. Many states however do require a copy of your federal return to be sent in with your state return. Most have an income limit that triggers this requirement. In Georgia, the trigger is $40,000 and if your federal adjusted income is equal to or exceeds $40,000 then you are required to include a copy of your federal tax return to be enclosed with your state return.

How can you find where your income tax return is?

Where did you last see it? Did you hire someone to prepare it for you? Maybe they have a copy? Maybe there is still a copy of it on your computer? If you already filed your return and still need a copy of your return, you can request a copy from the IRS for a fee: Use Form 4506: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf If you don't need a full copy, a tax transcript is free and will suffice for most purposes: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506t.pdf
