Posting a film on a social network site is a generally accepted way of 'getting noticed'. In addition, publishing the accomplishments of the student(s) involved in the film in the local newspaper and on other social media -- with pointers to where the film can be seen, can bring attention to the work.

You don't. Movie premieres are not about you and your relationship with a star. They are about the promotion of the film. If you REALLY want to meet the stars, become a part of the movie world and then you will be noticed.

This applies to both stage and film: Be on time. Know your lines and blocking. NEVER complain about retakes and long rehearsals. NEVER argue with the director. Do the material to the best of your ability. These things will get you noticed big time - and called for other projects. Now if by "getting noticed" you meant "becoming a diva", forget everything I wrote above.
If you are starting out, then you will not make that much to begin with. You need to get noticed! At first you might only make a few hundred but if you get big in the world of film directing then you can make millions, but beware there is a lot of competition. If you want to make millions then it really depends on your skills as a film director, you have to be good:)
