If you are talking about the 'friend roster,' you automatically have it in your menu. At the bottom of the screen (while your cursor is on the screen) there will be a heart. When you click it, your friend roster will show up, but before you can receive your friend code, you have to finish all of the work that Tom Nook (I call him Tom Crook) gives you after you choose your house.
