Simply work the horse on a lunge line. When asking for a walk, say walk on. For trot. Emphasize the word by saying "ter-ot". Than ask for a canter by emphasizing "can-ter". The next step you want to do all that first with a saddle on. Than soon add a bridle and work on the lundge until they appear comfortable with the tack. Now the riding part. Have someone who is experienced hold the horse while you jump up in down with your hands on the saddle. Than flapp the sturrips to add noise until they don't mind it. Than simply jump into the saddle but don't get on. Just lay your body over the saddle. Rub the horse all over and talk to the horse telling it that its doing good. The next step is put your foot into the sturip. Don't get on. Just jump up and don't in it. And lean over the saddle with one foot in. Jump off and repeat once your horse doesn't mind, go ahead and get on. Talk, reasure the horse and jump off. Repeat getting on and off. Once your horse is comfortable keep a loose rein. And have your handler walk the horse. Add slight pressure and ask for a "walk on" walk around for a while. Than asking for a stop. Shift your weight to the back of the saddle slight pull on the reins, I emphasize the slight part and say hooe. Once your horse has the stopping part down. Have someone lundge you and your horse and ask for the next step. When asking to trot, keep the reins loose but have contact. Add a little leg pressure and say "ter-ot" make sure to keep your body weight forward. Same goes with the canter. Just do the same you did with the trot only a little bit more leg pressure and say "can-ter". The process depends on the horse. Any extra help or tips email me at shawnnapietila@gmail.com. hope this was helpful. :) I recently broke my warmblood this way and he is doing awesome.

What is a broke horse to ride?

It is a horse that can been ridden...depending on the degree of riding, how much it has been ridden and who it is approved for (i.e. novice, beginner, intermediate or experienced). Such as a green broke horse is a horse that is likely not very well trained yet, and might be started under saddle. A well broke horse, however, has been used under saddle for a while and is likely not to buck anyone off.
