My horse used to have the same problem. I used to put apple juice of some sort of dilutable juice in to his water a day or two before a big show and continue over the show as some horses don't like the taste of strange water. Or you could bring water with you, but if you add juice to the water only add enough to change the taste slightly, and offer ordinary water as well.
