It depends how you lost it. If you traded it by accident, then the only other way you can get it back is buy setting up another trade to the person you traded it to and getting them to trade it back to you.
If you sold it at Pawlette's or any other store, then there's no way you can get it back unless you get another one.
If you haven't lost it one of these ways, then think about how you 'lost it' and try to 'find it'.
