How do you get a pony to trust you and let you touch it are there some special techniques or activities i can do with my pony to get him to let me touch him?

To win a horse or pony's trust you should just spend time with it. You shouldn't go out to catch the pony and immediately slap a halter and lead on it. Let the pony see that you are no threat, just sit in the pony's paddock or stall and maybe read to it. Eventually the pony's curiosity will get the better of it and it'll come to you. Once the pony has done this a few times you can begin to walk around and the pony should follow. Eventually you can begin to touch and pet the pony and progress from there. You can also try the Monty Roberts method of Join up, this is done in a round pen or small arena and can help a pony to trust it's owner, which will allow you to touch it.

Let the pony come to you, don't force yourself onto it otherwise you make it harder for you to even begin to create a bond of trust or even respect between you and the little equine. Trust comes with respect, and respect comes with knowing when a pony is ready to work with you or approach you and accept your presence.

Create a normal routine with the pony, like feeding, cleaning out the pen/stalls, attending to other horses you may have, things like that. As was mentioned above, spend time with the pony by reading or talking to it so that it gets accustomed to your voice and learns to acknowledge that you and your voice means no harm. The thing you need to remember is that you can get a pony to come you and let it pet you but that doesn't necessarily mean it will trust or respect you. Trust and respect come with actually working with it, including activities like longing around the round-pen, breaking it to the halter, saddling and riding it, grooming it, and even feeding it (the most important activity that requires a lot of respect from your horse if you don't want it to give you the cold look or get all nasty and bossy towards you when the feed comes out).
