You "earn" tickets by beating the other players at darts in the Pub, to the right in Loch Ness. On your first visit, you can get a rowboat ticket, and get a photo of Nessie "loops" to take back to Mews. When you return, you can win a submarine ticket from another player.
Simple explanation of darts : Click on a dart. Click and hold when you point it at the dartboard, which creates the aiming point X. Draw back your mouse and then release to throw. You do not have to do this quickly. Take your time and watch as the dart moves lower as you pull back. With practice, you will learn how far back (down) to move to hit your aiming point.

The canoe is a "rowboat" being hired out to tourists. Since the Ticket Office is closed, you go to the Pub, where you play darts to win a rowboat ticket. You will get a photo of humps in the water, which you take back to Mews.
There are two guides at Loch Ness : the rowboat operator and the sub operator. The ticket booth is closed.
You can't swap them. Once you have the rowboat ticket, take a photo of humps in the water and return it to Mews. This turns out to be truck tires. Go back to the pub, and this time you can play one of the other players to win a sub ticket.
Since no one is manning the ticket booth, you have to win your tickets (rowboat and submarine) playing darts in the Pub. The first time you visit the island, you get a camera for helping a driver. Then at the Pub, you get matches and a rowboat ticket -- the rowboat operator leads you to photo site. But Mews finds your photo unconvincing. The second time you go to Loch Ness, you can win the submarine ticket and photograph another false Nessie. But when you go back to the pub, you get a Pennywhistle that lets you summon the real Nessie when you venture out alone in the rowboat.
Take the photo of the "loops in the water" back to Mews.
On your first trip to Loch Ness, you win a rowboat ticket and get a picture of loops in the water. Take it back to Mews, who says it is truck tires. Return to Loch Ness to win a submarine ticket, and while there you can tell off the devious rowboat operator (who leaves). After you show your submarine photo at the pub, you can get a pennywhistle and take the rowboat across the loch (left twice).
You win a ticket to the sub on your second visit to Loch Ness. On the first, you get the camera and win a rowboat ticket playing darts. When you get a photo from the rowboat, take it back to Mews. When you make your second trip to Loch Ness, you win the submarine ticket. Take the photo on the sub and show it back at the Pub.

The rowboat is first, then the submarine. You can only win a rowboat ticket on your first visit to Loch Ness, but you will get a photo to take back to Mews. When you go there a second time, you can win a submarine ticket, and you must show the submarine photo you get to the men back at the pub.
