Men are not generic. Just as each woman is an individual, so is a man. Many men share characteristics, but no one man is exactly like another. So, really, the question is, "How do you get along with people?"
Maybe the first thing is wanting to get along. Without that, your chances of success are dim. When you want to get along with somebody, you can generally find a way to do it. However, there are some people -- both male and female -- that are very difficult to get along with. They may have psychological difficulties or conditions, or, they may simply not care for other people very much.
Men are typically inclined to have an interest in sports and athletics, work, money and power of one sort or another, especially in modern culture. One rule of thumb in "getting along" with anyone would be to express an interest in what the other person is interested in. If you don't get an equal response -- that is, if they don't show an interest in you, too -- there may be little point in trying. Some people are very self-absorbed and selfish.
There is no set answer of how to "get along." Unfortunately, that's a question you'll have to answer for yourself. But it could be a good start to ask yourself some questions. If you can answer them, it may help you answer this question, "How do you get along with a man?"
First, why do you want to get along with (a particular) man?
Second, how important is it to you that you can do this?
Third, if you are not now getting along, what seem to be the problems?
There is no prescribed formula to say how anyone can get along with anyone else. If you and the man both want to get along, and are serious about it, a way can usually be found. But nobody else can tell you how to do it. It depends on you and the other person. And, to repeat, everyone is different.
