A blanket cannot be put onto a horse as you are unable to buy one.
You can however have a blanket which allows you to have your horse sleep outside in all weather. To get this it is a random event. you just put your horse in the box and sometimes it will find objects. e.g tub of grease, whip, horse blanket and a few more.
Plus I found it's more likely that you get the blanket when you put your horse in the box for THREE HOURS.

∙ 14y agoYou have to put your howrse into the box, until you find it. NOTE: putting in the box over night doesn't work - they must go in the bo during the day when you are working them.
