Fastest way is to fly Meridiana (an Italian low cost airline) directly from Florence Vespucci Airport. There is a daily flight in the middle of the day. Flight time is 95 minutes. Check www.Meridiana.it and shop for the best and cheapest days. Prices for a one way ticket in 2009 are slightly over $85 on most days. Ryan Air is another option from Pisa Airport, which is connected via train to Florence Santa Maria Novella station. The train trip from Florence to Pisa airport is approx. 90 minutes. The distance between Barcelona and Florence (via ground transportation) is approx. 1100 km (690 miles). Driving time is about 10 hours. Traveling by train is not recommended as it is extremely slow and probably more expensive than flying.
