If it has just been deleted, then using the Undo facility, by clicking on the icon or pressing Ctrl-Z, will retrieve it. If it was deleted some time ago and the file has been saved and re-opened, you may not be able to retrieve it. That is why it is good to have a backup.

You can hold control and Z and it will undo, and control Y for redo.

For the unsaved Word contents and changes, you can recover them by following the guides on Microsoft's website.
