if you have only the CPU there should be a + and - sign. use these for volume. they are often at the top of the keyboard. e.i. for me its top right. for speakers there should be a knob to turn. try headphones/earbuds.
I will add this:
Double-click on the little speaker in the sys tray (extreme bottom right of the screen) and maximize all the volume controls...because the sound source you are trying to increase might be wave, CD, synth, mic, whatever. So maximize all of them and figure out the one you need later.
If this does not work, you might need to purchase an amplified sound sysytem which will usually come with instructions as to its setup. If it does not, or if the sales personnel cannot advise you, then don't buy it.
no can really make the volume softer. the best way is to make your computer's sounds more softer
By using volume controller
Each computer model is different however most have a volume control button. When you press the button, the computer will display a graphic of the volume increasing or decreasing.
If you're asking how to turn on the volume, then you can usually find the volume icon on the right side of the start menu. If you're asking how to fix the volume/speakers, then it depends on the type of computer you have. Your best bet is to Google the computer model you have and look for instructions that is specific to your computer.

I have a two volume set of books on just this subject, published in 1961. It lists more types than I could hope to list here. The first volume is on digital computer types and the second volume is on analog computer types. Imagine what has happened since 1961 that the author never heard of!
You turn up the volume of your computer, PC, Mac or laptop.
