The only elevator is on the gantry at the launch base. Press the button to call it down from the top (you cannot use it to go back down).
To beat the escalators at the Rock Lab, you only need to raise or lower each one using the controls. Your object is to get down to the floor, cross to the far right, then go up to the storage room at the upper right. Nothing else in the lab affects the quest.

∙ 10y agoThe rooms of the Infirmary are laid out in a circular pattern. You must take the hose reel and reach the maintenance area, but you have a limited hose length. Go up and left to reach the center of the circular layout, then come back down to the right. If you come up short, you can rewind the hose and try again.
