If you are really scared of something and you really want to face your fears take my advice. For example if you are scared of the dentist, don't be afraid and go in to the dentist room on your own. If your parent or guardian keeps coming in with you it will be a habit that you will have for a long time. If you are scared of heights, there has been something that has scared you and disabled you from going to a height. It is 90% not likely that it will happen again. Go onto a balcony and see there is nothing to be scared of. Gradually get higher everyday and it will certainly help!

if you are say scared of a Spiders then buy a spider if you are scared of monsters then watch a scary movie or you can say to youself monsters are not real
You overcome fear by at least tying to do the thing you are afraid of once to see if you like doing it. Then you can keep on trying to do it so you can get better at it if you liked it the first time.
A fear is when you are scared of something.
A phobia is when you are irrationnally scared of something (when you cannot explain why).

For that reason, a PHOBIA is harder to overcome. The best way to overcome your fear is to confront what you are afraid of.
To overcome a fear just slowly introduce yourself to the thing you're afraid of like I'm a textophobic I hate the feel of velvet but I'm now slowly reintroducing myself to it and I've devised a therapy plan and the final step is to wear something velvet and if I can do that then I'll no longer be textophobic
Dont just face it
my sis was once scared of mirrors because of "bloody mary" and the "candy man" and she needed someone with her to even step NEAR a mirror. so what i did was i would step right outside of the door to say the bathroom so that if "anything bad happened" i would come in quickly. eventually i just kind of made her go in by herself.

all you need to do is do it a couple times. like if you are afraid of the dark or something in the dark then go up to the thing that is making you scared and touch it. that is what i made my sister do. i made her touch the mirror.

and it worked!!

hope this helped

Fear is good, so say the psychologists. The human mind uses fear to inform the person that eminent danger is approaching, this can save your life in situations in which real and present danger is indeed a contributing factor. On the other hand some fears are irrational to the layman, fears such as those of crowds or lines, or certain words. Those fears can often be traced back to a traumatic experience in someones life that has caused them to react unwittingly in a state of panic to an imagined danger, but that fear is all very real to them. The best way I can deduce to conquer ones fear is not always to face it head on. If someone were to say be afraid of being hit by a speeding car, and then were to choose to run headlong into one, I doubt the fear would dissolve, more likely it would be realized. The best way is to learn to live with said fear. If you are afraid of heights don't scale mount Everest, instead use that fear to help determine why you are afraid of height, and combat that at it's root. If you are afraid of falling, or if you are afraid of not having enough air at a high altitude. If you are afraid of people in large groups is it because you feel vulnerable, or is it because you feel inferior. Take self defense courses, or improve your report with a handful of good friends that can help build your self esteem. Fear as a whole though is not something you should strive to best, but something you should instead try to understand. With knowledge of an enemy you are always more adept at defeating it.

facing it.

if you fear water, you will have to eventually face it to get past the phobia. For many years, I was afraid of the ocean. (Large open bodies of water to be exact) I forced myself to go to and standby the ocean on several occasions, even venturing into it. I have since gotten past that fear and am now content with it.

same can be said with any other phobia really. Another way to assist in getting past a fear is to learn all you can about it. For instance, some people have a fear of snakes. After researching snakes, they may see than while there are in fact some snakes that are incredibly deadly, many others are not deadly and in most cases will not target a human for attack.

Gaining an understanding of what it is you are afraid of can do wonders for you. As with many things that humans are afraid of, the "Unknown" is what stirs true fear. Once you know what is out there, that fear tends to fade away.
