Your email address and password has likely been stolen from a non-secure site such as Wiki Answers, FaceBook or YouTube if you are using the same email address and password to set up your account on those sites. If that is the case you will not find a virus on your computer since the perpetrator is remotely accessing your email user account and likely running automated spam sending software that uses addresses in your contacts list. To fix this you must change the email address that has been compromised or you can change the password along with your secret question ie.) What was your mothers maiden name? Changing the password alone will not be adequate since the perpetrator can get the new password using the forgot password option. Never use your email address and new password on a non-scure site again after changing it. Make sure your password has both letters and numbers with upper and lower case to be more safe. It is possible you do have a virus on your computer or a key logger that discovered your email address and password.
