Call a local beekeeper...they will usually come and remove a hive for free because they keep the hive for their own use in honey production and crop pollination. Be careful, most states have laws making it illegal to kill honeybees! the beekeeper will remove a colony in a manner that won't damage the honey, but you might find it more work than it's worth to process the honey from the combs that contain it. You might think about supporting your local beekeepers by buying their honey...it will be properly purified, sterilized and processed, all of which take some skills and equipment the average homeowner doesn't possess. In addition, when you help to support your local beekeepers you are also supporting your local farmers as they depend on beekeepers and their hives to pollinate crops.
