Love is something that demands to be felt, especially once it has been felt in the past. Vowing to get rid of the feeling completely is extremely challenging, so might I suggest finding something or someone new to love, even if it is just temporary? Keep yourself open, go out, meet new people, apposed to closing yourself off. If you are not emotionally in a place to feel love again, for someone else, taking up a new hobby or connecting with family can help in transferring the love in your life from a place of hurt to a place of positivity. Even if this doesn't work, it is always most helpful to remember who you are and what you strive to become. Ask yourself, will my goals be accomplished if I sit obsessing over this toxic person or wallowing in self pity? This is something that helped me get over a helpless love from someone else. After doing this you might realize that the love never disappeared, but was used instead for yourself--a newfound self love.
