I would suggest that you take a damp towel and start rubbing the towel on the white lines. I would also suggest that you add a drop of Dawn (Soap) on the paper towel to get rid of the lines. Don't worry... The white lines aren't permanent.
maybe if you leave them on to long, but since nails are dead skin cells you will most likely get vertical lines anyways. (Nail polish can hide the vertical lines too)

The white lines are most likely resulting from a Zinc deficiency. It is the same as the white lines you get on your finger nails. Too much calcium in your diet can cause improper absorption of zinc and iron. Vitamin D also plays a role in this so make sure you're getting enough of that. If this is a serious problem for a good amount of your teeth/nails I suggest contacting a dietitian or your doctor.
As far as I know they can be a sign of calcium deficiency. You can also get white lines under the nails which can be caused by this or by damage (banging, trapping fingers etc...).
