If they are only shallow surface scratches, They can be wet- sanded out with 1200 grit wet&dry paper, and then polished with compound if desired. If they are deep, the gelcoat can be repaired, but it would probably be cheaper to replace the tub.

If they are surface scratches you can try using a Pumice Scouring Stick, it will also take out hard water rings out of a toilet bowl. They sell them at Wal-Mart by other cleaning products.

In Home Fiberglass Tub Repair?

Unlike metal and porcelain bathroom tubs, fiberglass bathtubs are much easier to repair, and the task can be performed by the average homeowner. All fiberglass tubs and tub enclosures are coated with a material called glazing. This material gives the surface of the fiberglass a smooth and glossy finish that is resistant to water and the other products commonly used in the tub. However, as the tub ages, the glazing is slowly worn away by the abrasive action of water flowing over the tub's surface. Additionally, small cracks or splits in the fiberglass can occur due to fatigue or because of objects dropped onto the surface of the tub.Worn glazing will make the tub susceptible to staining because the native fiberglass finish is porous. Without the glazing to protect it, soap scum and dirt will settle into the fiberglass and make it look dull and dirty. Even though this is aesthetically unpleasing, there is little chance of water leaking through the fiberglass. However, cracks and splits in the fiberglass tub are sources of concern because small amounts of water can leak through the cracks and destroy the sub flooring beneath the tub.Fiberglass tubs can be re-glazed by employing a few common materials and a ready-made kit available in most home improvement centers. While a standard fiberglass tub re-glazing kit can be purchased, it is worthwhile to use a kit that contains epoxy. The epoxy coating is a superior product that will not only provide a smooth water resistant surface, but will repair small cracks and splits in the fiberglass. Because the coating material is made from epoxy, it will settle into cracks and splits to seal and reinforce them. The other advantage to using this type of kit is that the coating comes in different colors. Therefore, in addition to repairing and re-glazing the fiberglass tub, one can change the tub's color as well. This epoxy coating system has been available for years and the kits currently being produced are low odor and fast drying. The coating is applied using a paintbrush, and because the epoxy material is self-leveling, the finish will be free from drips and runs.Advancements in epoxy coatings make it easy for a homeowner to repair and re-glaze fiberglass tubs. A professional outcome is virtually guaranteed, and the finish will last longer than the original factory glazing.
