I am aware of two ways. The first is to use the Character Map application that has been among Windows' System Tools for more than 20 years now. When you find the character you want, click COPY to copy it to the "clipboard". Then go back to what you're working on, position the cursor where you want the character, and paste (CTRL-V). The second way, which I use more often, is to hold the ALT key while typing the character's decimal (base 10) code on the number pad, then release the ALT key. It will not work with the numbers along the top of the keyboard. If, for example, you want to insert a division sign (÷), while holding the ALT key type 246 on the number pad then release the ALT key. I'm not sure of the best place to find a list of the codes (mine's about 20 years old), but I would start by Googling "extended ascii codes".

Alphanumeric user name would be using numbers and letters in the name. John1234 is an example. Remember that most naming conventions for websites or even some domains require strong user name/password encryption. And example would be. JohN_1234. Note the use of caps and underscore. This would less likely be able to crack or figure out by an unwanted user.
