Push down on the lever on the rear of the motor cover to unlock the cowling. The latch straddles the seam between the two halves of the motor cover on the back of the motor. Lift the back edge of the motor cover and, while doing so, unhook the front of the cover from the hook holding it in place. Lift the cover off of the engine.

the thermostat is located behind the timing bet cowling. it is a bear to get off. i changed the timing belt and everything in there when i got it off. too hard to get off to have to do the job twice. the probem is that you cant get to the bolts and there is about 9 of them. i also changed the water pump.
I'm pretty sure u remove the cowling from the front and it shall come off in 2 piece's to get to the part u suggest u may have to remove the exhaust manifold
The wiper arms have a small clip under them that pushes to the side, then the arms pull off. The motor is under the cowling, remove the cowling to gain access.
Bottom left side of engine looking at from front. Remove passenger front tire. Is located under cowling but can be removed without taking cowling off.
The size of the engine is not mentioned, but most Mercury outboard models situate the drain plug on the lower half of the port side cowling. Have your funnel and or drain pan ready when you remove that plug! Also be careful not to drop the sealing washer off of the plug, fwiw, the manufacturers recommend replacement of this washer.

Correct mix for a 2000 two stroke model is 50:1. This ratio works out to 1 pint of 2 stroke oil, to 6 gallons fuel. If you have an oil injected model, no oil is required in fuel, just top off oil tank.

The wiper motor is under the hood. The wiper arms have to come off(nuts under the round push-in caps). Then the cowling in front of the windshield. You'll see the motor once the cowling is removed.
