Are you sure you have the exact date she sat down on that nest correct?

It is possible for a goose to go up to 35 days on the nest before her goslings have hatched.

When a goose sits down on her nest it does not mean that she immediately drops the eggs into it. Most Canadas will sit on their nest one week before beginning to lay the eggs and the eggs take a day each to lay.

If you are positive that she has been on a layed egg for 35 days, you need to contact a wildlife rehabilitator. Call immediately if she is sluggish, keeps her head down, feathers puffed up or has a vacant or tired look in her eyes. She is ill and is need medical attention.

If a goose egg is not in a nest and it is maybe abandoned will it die?

Yes, without the mother nurturing, and warmth it will die. The egg was probably discarded because it was already dead, or touch by a human or other predator. The mother goose probably got rid of it as to not attract the predators back to the nest.

Why would a Canada goose abandon her egg?

geese cant tell if eggs are bad but the mother can comunicate with the babies while they are forming and i have seen it happen where every goose nest in the area there is always one bad rotten egg left over in the nest after hatching. Usually the geese don't know they are bad until it is past the time they are supposed to hatch. So they probably wont abandon it until after hatching time.
