The driver's side lock unlocks and locks the other doors, gas panel, and trunk, depending on how you have set the trunk lock. If you have one you can figure out the trunk if your system is working. There are two settings. You can NOT lock the driver's side door if the door is open. This is to prevent you from locking your key inside.
Theree is none. How ever there is a way to open hatch back from inside . A small lever on the lock set.
If you are saying that you locked the keys in the trunk and you haven't got a spare set here are some ideas: 1. If your car has a trunk popper, hot wire the button then push it. 2. Have a locksmith "pick" the lock and open the trunk. 3. Take out the back seat and back rest. Pull out the panel behind the back rest. Reach through the opening and retrieve the keys. Many years ago my father locked the car with the key in the ignition and the motor running. He got really lucky. The first person to pass by tried his key in the door lock and it worked. That might not happen very often. But I suppose you could also try for that.
Why yes I have done that Can you get the other set of keys? Sometimes you can just have another key made from the code on the matching lock- in this case the glovebox or console lid. Any locksmith can do this readily if you are unable to master the mysteries of extracting the glovebox lock cylinder- there is a secret tang to depress which releases the lock cylinder. Or you can sometimes unscrew the bezel that holds it together. Or, find the other set of keys. Press the remote trunk unlock button in the glovebox if you have that feature. Worst case, the back seat can be removed and the lock accessed from there.

On the side of the lock, you will see a small button. Use the end of a pen and push it in, set the lock to the numbers you want then push up on the lock release. The lock is now set.
It appears that you turned the lock counterclockwise instead of clockwise . If the lock is set in the horizontal alignment, it is probably set for valet or parking theft protection. Using the master key-not the valet key-try to jiggle the master key in the lock turning it clockwise. Keep trying, perhaps some graphite dust might help lube the key chamber. The trunk lid opener lever next to the driver seat will not work in the horizontal key lock mode to prevent thief by valets or by vandals when street parking. Keep trying, but do not force, it will eventually move to the right-clockwise. Your factory car manual will explain more in detail. Toyotas and Lexus have the same locking schemes for the trunk lid and glove box. Don H.
Make sure you are not using the valet key. Amanti's come with a set of keys (2) that can unlock everything, driver's door, glovebox and trunk lid. There is also a third key designated for valet use, allows you to disable trunk release and then lock glove box with master key. This way the valet cannot look throughout the trunk or glove box but he can lock the car and start it.

If you haven't already done this, try holding the trunk release button down for a few seconds on your remote. Toyota set it up this way so that you don't accidentally open the trunk when you mean to lock the doors. There is also a button inside the glovebox that will disable or enable that function. try pressing it and then use the remote.
It sounds like the tumblers might be "frozen" or stuck. Try spraying WD-40 into the lock before inserting the key. Use the plastic straw that comes with the can, insert one end into the nozzle hole and the other end inside the lock. Don't be stingy. Let set a minute or two and then retry the key.
