If no cap on tank, you have to use reservoir.
The "Low Coolant Sensor" on a 1997 Pontiac Montana is located appro 6" below the radiator cap which is on the left as your facing the engine. The sensor measures the fluid level in the radiator itself and is prone to giving false alarms when it gets dirty.
I have a 2000 Pontiac and my was doing the same thing. It turned out to be my heads were warped. You can smell it coming out of your tail pipe if it is your heads.
You don't have a cap on the radiator. The cap is located directly on the coolant bottle
