How do you beat the boss plant monsters on Steamworks Island?
You have to beat all three Hydra-like monsters before the acid rises to catch you. 1) Get close to the first monster, then when it sticks its head out to hit you, duck and stayed ducked until it goes back. Then you have a few seconds to shoot it with the toxic blaster by pressing the spacebar (splat). Repeat that 2 more times and you have beaten the 1st monster. 2) The 2nd monster has projectiles and the only way to beat it is to fire at the projectiles, too. Your blaster works on them, and you can tell when the plant is going to fire because it moves back first. When the head comes out, duck and fire the same way you did the 1st one 3) The 3rd monster has 3 weapons: The head, the projectiles, and the caterpillar bombs that drop from the ceiling. Defeat it the same way you defeated the 2nd monster, but don't get hit when a bug drops down. Keep shooting the projectiles and the head when it pops out. Defeating the three wins the island, and you are transported back to the Hibernation room to receive the Island Medallion from the Mayor. (Note : when leaving the island, choose the open shaft at the far right. If you end up on the bottom floor with no exit, go up one level.)
